Lexi Rovner is a Co-founder and the CEO at 64x Bio.

Lexi completed her BS in Molecular Environmental Biology at the University of California, Berkeley and her PhD in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology at Yale. During her PhD, she was part of a multi-institutional collaboration between Yale, Harvard and MIT, to create the first organism with a new genetic code. She also led the development of the first organism dependent on synthetic amino acids. Lexi then completed her postdoctoral work in George Church’s lab at Harvard Medical School and the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering, where she expanded upon this work in mammalian systems and viruses. It was in the Church lab that she co-founded 64x Bio alongside George, Pamela Silver, Jeffrey Way, and David Thompson. Through 64x Bio, Lexi was accepted into Y Combinator’s class of Summer 2018. Under her leadership, she has raised $60 million in venture capital for the company to date.

Lexi is a 2022 Endpoints 20 under 40 Next-Generation Biotech Leader, 2022 Bloomberg New Economy Catalyst Awardee, and recipient of Yale’s John Spangler Nicholas Prize. She has co-authored numerous peer-reviewed papers in journals such as Science and Nature and is an inventor on multiple patent applications.
